Objective: Create works of art that explore emotional response and the artistic process.
My studio art thesis examined my own emotional response to the transitory stage of life a college grad experiences, experimenting with the artistic process required to produce final artworks. The final work consisted of two parts: first, I would write and draw on pieces of drywall that simulated my studio walls. I allowed myself to decorate the walls with words and pictures, but also destroy the same walls in moments of emotional release. While experimenting with this process, I simultaneously created drawings of colored pencil on paper to act as final artworks. These surreal, composited compositions document various events, memories, and wishes for my future in a condensed form, contrasting with the messy process documents on the slabs of drywall.
Below is Part II of my thesis featuring surreal compositions of colored pencil on paper.
